Graduate of the Month

Holly Ward - April 2024

Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy

Background:

Dancing from the age of 2, I was fortunate enough to train with The Royal Ballet School in London from 11 and then at Laine Theatre Arts from 16. After graduating I danced in many productions around the world but unfortunately due to injury my career finished a little earlier than planned. I then went into the fitness industry and trained to teach Body Balance, Zumba and Pilates and taught these until I became a Mummy to my 2 boys. I also teach Ballet to children part time along side my Massage.

How have you used your new qualification?

Straight after passing my Level 3 Sports Massage I bought a couch and set up my little business in my summer house at the end of my garden. It started off as friends and family to get my confidence up but has developed into getting regular clients. After talking with my tutor Dani I decided to go for it and take my Level 4. I was extremely nervous as I just never thought I would be able to do it but I am so glad Dani pushed me as it's helped me so much. I also completed my Cupping course, IASTM and Kinesiology Taping course.

What did you think of the Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy course you attended?

I was extremely nervous when I stated my Level 3. I wasn't sure I would be able to achieve the qualification and doubted myself. The knowledge and support I got from my tutor was incredible. I enjoyed every second of all the courses with Sports Massage Academy. The SMA has been so helpful on helping me to set up my business and also the conference I attended last year was brilliant to extend my knowledge that I had already gained from the courses.

What would you say to anyone looking to train in Sports Massage Therapy?

Go for it! Don't doubt yourself! It's the best thing I've done. For 10 years after my dance career ended I've been a bit lost on what I should be doing with my career. After I became a Mummy I wanted to do something I enjoyed and had a passion for and that I could fit around my family and my other part time job. Sports Massage has been a blessing, it's given me a new career that I love and it is so rewarding knowing that you are helping your clients.
